Fall

imageI have been LOVING this beautiful weather we’ve been having. The temperatures have been perfect for a couple of months! About half the leaves have turned and fallen, and we’ve had just a couple frosts.  I wish it could just stay like this all winter.

We have been enjoying a few football games together with some fun tailgating. I had my 26th birthday in September. Worked in the morning at a fundraising event called Paws in the Park-my work had a booth there and we had a good time (except I got my first bee sting in YEARS). It wasn’t as bad as I remember, and after discovering the co-worker standing next to me was allergic-I was happy to take the sting. That night Josh took me to a WONDERFUL place in town for dinner. It’s definitely got prices that only let us come about once a year-but it was so amazing. That night we had a work bowling party and it was a lot of fun with good laughs. Josh gave me a beautiful pearl & onyx bracelet-he has great taste in Jewelry.

I recently celebrated my 2 year anniversary working at Rock Bridge Animal Hospital. I feel so blessed to have a job that means something to me and I feel like a valued employee. My boss made sure I knew that by giving me a card, some gifts, & brownies for all. (And then reminding me I was going to be teaching at our staff training meeting the next week! Luckily that went well and the saga will continue and end this coming wed.)

imageWe celebrated Homecoming weekend by going to the tailgate and game again, and Josh’s brother Landon was able to come and stay the weekend with us. Even more important that weekend though, was Josh’s White Coat Ceremony. This was to celebrated the change of his class over from the classroom to the clinics in the teaching hospital. They were given a white coat to signify their achievements and remind them they are on the downhill slope of school. The students were able to choose whoever they wanted to present their white coats, and Josh chose me. I am very proud of him.

I’ve also been working on some home improvement projects. If you remember many many months ago we tore out some overgrown bushes and I finally nearly finished all of that project. My friend Jill came and helped me with the first set of bushes after Josh helped me yank out the old roots with his truck. Later I got some knockout rose bushes and planted them in the other side which was sort of a wildflower garden-or so it was called. SO much better. :)

There are small river rocks on the left side, with a new border and in the picture you just see dirt. I planted it with grass seed which is now growing, and it’s still under some cover too keep it moist. I’m excited to have some lawn there. I didn’t have enough rocks for the rose side, and i might go ahead and fill it with mulch for now. I’m deciding between buying paint for the front room or rocks for the flowerbed…but I already have enough mulch to fill it in so I might do that and buy rocks another year. Would that look bad with rocks in the other part??

The other project I just started happened for two reasons: 1. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while-I hate the wallpaper and curtains and am ready for some new paint; and 2. OOPS I sorta messed up the curtains while washing windows and instead of putting up the mess of a curtain rod and ugly curtains again, I think I should just make my new ones. BUT the new ones don’t really match the walls…and especially the wallpaper…

the walls are a sage-y green color, looks weird on my screen though.DSCN1768 DSCN1766  DSCN1767

So that’s what I did to the curtains…not horrible but actually harder to put back up than I thought. (at least the windows are clean!) If you can see the fabric on the couch-thats for the curtains/pillows. The pile of books in the corner is the last 2 years for Josh.

ThDSCN1767e fabric is hard to see in this blown up picture, but I love it. That big window is almost 12 ft long! The side window is 7 ft.  I just need some fabric for some trim-to add some length to the curtains. Not sure if I should go brown or red… Ideas???

As far as paint goes, I got on the sherwin williams website where I was able to upload a pic of the room and change the paint colors. Did you notice the ceiling is also green? yay. More to paint.

These are pictures I took off the website. Yes, they are all ABOUT the same. I’m leaning toward brown (yes boring, but neutral and hopefully easy for resale) Which is better?

The other thing I’ve struggled with is to paint that built in shelf and other trim around the room to white. Hmmm. Did you also see I changed the ceiling colors?

wallpper Here’s from my camera phone today, after I got the wallpaper down from the entire room, and scrubbed the stupid glue off of one wall. Too bad I couldn’t reach further across our 900# piano LOL.

Any Volunteers?
